goodbye home office, I hardly knew ye

yes, we are dealing with water in our basement, and yes, because of the repairs, Conor has moved back into his old room (aka my office.)  But there will be no whining.  A lot of people are facing a lot worse things than this.

So, I'm set up temporarily in our bedroom (I work from home, so there is no other option, I need a space.  Progress is being made in the basement (cement repair & drylok completed)... and life goes on.

In order to hide the fact that we're not master drywallers, I was thinking of something like this downstairs:

Cool pic, hm?  Be sure to check out Amanda's awesome blog, she and her husband are doing some great stuff with trim at their place.

  1. Thanks for the comment on my blog!

    Sorry about your office!!

I'm loving the molding look lately and have plans to do it in my mudroom...I have slight concerns that this new molding craze could turn into the 70s ugly paneling thing. :P

  2. Oh, wow, I never even thought about it that way! :/ we do have paneling down there too, it could be a design museum :)

We will do the drywall first, the if it looks good, we might skip the trim (mostly because I really need an office again, and this project is taking sooo long!). I also thought about textured paintable wallpaper, but that was not met with any enthusiasm at all!

  3. Thanks for the shout out, Carole! The board and batten is so easy to do and it looks great. I don't think the board and batten will turn into the 70s paneling because it much more traditional and has been around for centuries.

  4. I agree it looks great! but it is worth thinking about whether choices will end up dating your place..Oh, that didn't come out right, but I bet you know what I mean ;)

I think we will go for it, but probably not until the summer...wish us luck!
