When last we left the living room, there was one eyesore that stood out like a sore thumb: that awful, sooty fireplace box. When we moved in, we had the fireplace inspected, and the entire firebox needs to be rebuilt. It's not in the budget this year, but with our white puppy, leaving it uncovered wasn't an option, either. Our temporary solution was to place a huge box (with a telescope in it, if you can imagine!) in front of the opening. Not so pretty, but it did the trick.
Here's the official puppy-approved solution--the Alton fireplace screen from Crate and Barrel. It's modern, sturdy, and at $159, it's not only easy on the eyes, but also easy on the wallet!
